by the way, does anyone gonna release a new car mod? i’m really excited about Renault 5, and even some JDM cars.
  • Victor Narl
@stanceboyCZ, at the moment I only have this beta prototype of Renault 5, author Alain, it is very difficult to drive it yet, we will wait for the final version https://files.webmoney.com/files/WGcn0CID
  • HerrNove
@stanceboyCZ Have you already tried some of those made by Ryoma? (https://mega.nz/folder/1mJEwDCC#4k1vV5V8T_xgxcNidXV31w) There is more to drive than his, admittedly wonderful, Oxia. Also, the wiki (https://wiki.stunts.hu/wiki/List_of_cars) lists many models by other constructors.
  • Alain
About R5 turbo Prost, I'll release the car soon. For now it's a WiP, as for FranceStunts 2025 project. If possible, both could be released at the same moment, to drive the beast on the first FranceStunts track of the season. Soon™ a28zln.jpg
  • Alan Rotoi
    I can't wait!

    thanks a lot guys

i’m really glad that does exists modding community for this game, it’s something like with DOOM Smiley Grin

  • stanceboyCZ
it’s pretty insane the games that old does have mods

Aug 8

  • Duplode
@stanceboyCZ In our case, I guess it's down to the openness of the track editor planting the seeds for further exploration, plus the formats being accessible enough to reward it (even if they were undocumented at first). Plus of course years and years of slow and steady progress.
  • Alain
@stuntsboyCZ Except nobody yet intended building an art piece like myhouse.wad with Stunts lore. It would take mastering the non-Euclidean mathematics — which none of the Stunts modders I know have ever attempted — and weaving it seamlessly into the track design. To produce such a creation at the very pinnacle of Stunts knowledge, one would have to be a true polymath genius, the likes of which Stunts Valhalla has never seen before.

Happy late birthday @dreadnaut, and happy birthday @JTK! Is myhouse.wad that creepy map said to be published by a friend of the mapper after the latter's death?
  • Alain
Excited to finally release this tribute map. Last August I lost a good childhood friend of mine and took it pretty hard. When I was visiting my hometown for his funeral, I connected with his parents who shared with me some of his old belongings. Among them was a copy of an old map of his backed up on a 3.5” floppy from high school. Thomas and I were into amateur Doom mapping in the early 00s but I had never seen this map of his prior to uncovering it on one of the old floppy discs. As a way of paying tribute to him and all the great memories we had together, I took the plunge and installed Doom Builder in order to polish up his map and add a few modern amenities just for convenience sake. I haven’t touched an editor in over 15 years so it was quite a surprise to find out how easy mapping has become. I may have gotten a little carried away with these new UDMF features and, as such, the map is designed for GZDoom. From the text file: * Doom 2 - GZDoom, hardware renderer * 1 map: Not much of a challenge and roughly 10 minutes of play time. All difficulty settings implemented. * Jumping & crouching disabled, freelook is fine * Lots of Doomcute! Making maps of your house was all the rage back-in-the-day, but I feel like this is a pretty adorable and detailed tribute to my friend and a great way to share something of him with a community we loved. Miss you, Tom. Download myhouse.wad https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Nx7kUQwmxUGoXqL6FiUwFY--up64fgo?usp=share_link
  • Alain
I was wrong. The map is using me.
  • Spoonboy
@Alain ZCT274 Mirage was pretty amazing for myhouse-esque illusions and tricks. I wasn't around in the early days, when tracks like this were more common. But for me it was a truly special experience, and felt like the pinnacle of what could be achieved with Stunts.
  • afullo
Ok, it is indeed the map I meant. All the elements for a creepypasta are present: mysterious and unverifiable story, link to Google Drive containing poignant photos, an article with an obituary, two versions of the mod (a simple .wad and the full one in .pk3), disturbing atmospheres in the gameplay, multiple escape routes, etc.

Aug 12

  • Alain
The kind of artwork that will be remembered. Not to compare with a basic .trk file with no depth. There's a mythology attached to this wad.
  • afullo
With too many escape routes in Stunts you risk to make the game unable to recognize the correct paths and the finish line anymore, it happened on some tracks...
  • Alain
Be blissed my friend. Bliss can make a .trk file from a teapot.
  • afullo
Yes, but the problem I mentioned does not concern the internal track editor, it arises while racing regardless of the editor used to build the track...

TL;DR: A long whistleblowing message. I know someone (long in the past) already tried to hack zakstunts website. Let's publish a page covering the issue. As a non-exhaustive outline, such a page might cover: Access policy for replays Publication rules for .RPL files (private during the race, public after closing?). Storage location and access method (ideally outside the webroot, served via a controlled script rather than direct folder access). Non-predictable file naming (UUIDs) and, if applicable, signed or time-limited links. Server hardening & updates Regular updates (OS, PHP, CMS/plugins), least-privilege permissions, firewall/WAF, tested backups and restores. Protected administrative access (SSH keys, 2FA for admin/FTP/panels). Web-layer protections Site-wide HTTPS with HSTS, directory listing disabled, security headers (CSP, X-Content-Type-Options, etc.), download rate limiting and abuse detection. Integrity & auditability Checksums to verify the integrity of published replays. Logging and retention policy: what is logged, for how long, and for what purpose. Privacy & compliance What personal data is collected (accounts, IPs, emails), legal basis, retention period, data-subject rights, and a contact for requests. Vulnerability handling A dedicated security contact (e.g., security@…), responsible disclosure process, and indicative timelines for acknowledgement/fix; mention of any community bug-bounty initiative. Continuity of service Backup frequency, off-site storage and (if used) encryption, plus an incident recovery plan. We believe a concise public page covering these points would reinforce confidence, make collaboration with technical contributors easier, and serve as a reference whenever questions arise. Several retro-gaming communities are moving this way; as a historical reference, ZakStunts could lead by example.
  • dreadnaut
Hey @Alain, this is an interesting topic, in line with the long term project of opening up the ZakStunts source. Far too big to discuss in the shoutbox, want to open a forum thread, and we start from a list of problems to solve?
  • MiDiaN
Something I have been wondering is, who has access to all the replays (including non-public) and all the forum sections (including team forums)?
  • dreadnaut
Zak, myself and Duplode have full access to code and data. Zak can also admin the hosting (or contact the hosting service, at least)
  • MiDiaN
OK it would be best to have team strategy talk outside of this site then, and upload replays on the last minute of the competition.
  • Alain
    Thanks for your answers!
  • dreadnaut
Indeed, the whole ZakStunts community is built on trust, not technical perfection. And the competition itself, after all, is a cooperative game against the complexity of Stunts and life itself. But if one takes it strongly as a contest, well, contest culture is about zero-sum ethics, and no-one can be trusted. Not the world I want to live in, though, or the culture I hope to see reflected in this community.
  • Alain
"We are all shepherds", they say. Some people are born competitive and ethicless. Whistleblowing about critical vulnerabilities, I did my homeworks on the topic of building rock-bottom solid trust. No worst existential horror for a community than cooperating on sinking sands. I am waiting. E7u3U9U.png
  • Duplode
@MiDiaN and @Alain I have posted a reply on the Forum, focusing on the site governance aspects: Notes on site adminship . Feel free to ask any follow-up questions you might have!
  • Alain
To sum up my forum answer, 1. Open at least read only access to the github + 2. Deliver a page on zak.stunts.hu to present the website anti-vulnerabilities policy, and governance integrity practices. While also opening a contact link to heads up admins on any potential security breach.
